Vizovice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈvɪzovɪtsɛ]; German: Wisowitz) is a town in Zlín District in the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 4,900 inhabitants. It lies in the Vizovice Highlands.

History

The first written mention of Vizovice is from 1261. Vizovice received town privileges in 1570.[2]

Economy

It is home of famous Rudolf Jelínek's distillery, founded in 1812. Jelínek was the inventor of many liquors, such as apricot brandy.

Culture

The annual Masters of Rock heavy metal festival takes place in Vizovice.
