Impact

Rappa Ternt Sanga was a major influence to Kanye West's influential fourth studio album 808s & Heartbreak (2008). In a 2015 interview with Billboard, T-Pain claimed that 808s & Heartbreak was a "direct copy" of Rappa Ternt Sanga.[5] He stated "Like literally [Kanye] told me that he listened to Rappa Ternt Sanga and he made 808s & Heartbreak. He even brought me in to make it sound more like Rappa Ternt Sanga."[5]

Commercial performance

Rappa Ternt Sanga debuted at number 40 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 47,000 copies in the first week.[6] In its second week, the album fell to number 94 on the chart.[7] Over the following weeks the album eventually climbed to its peak at number 33 on the chart.[8] On March 9, 2006, the album was certified gold for shipments of over 500,000 copies in the United States.[9]

The album also spawned two top 10 singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 with "I'm Sprung" and "I'm 'n Luv (Wit a Stripper)", which peaked at number eight and number five respectively.
