Rod Austin (born 26 January 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played as a defender for the Carlton Blues from 1972 until 1985.

Austin won a premiership with Carlton in 1979 and after retiring as a player he became a coach. He started his coaching career with Footscray Reserves, leading them to the premiership in 1988. The following season he coached Fitzroy and remained at the club until the end of 1990.

On 16 January 2001, Austin was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for services to Australian Football.[1]
