Murkot Kunhappa

Murkoth Kunhappa was a bureaucrat-turned-journalist, born on May 14, 1905 as eldest son of Moorkoth Kumaran. Kunhappa's was a dominant presence in the State's cultural scene when he served Malayala Manorama, a leading Malayalam daily, from 1966 until his demise in 1993. He had been an Associate Editor of this newspaper for 27 years. Just like his father, he was also a follower of Sree Narayana Gurudeva. He has written many books including Sree Narayana Guru (National biography) (in Malayalam, Tamil, English). He has written Jivithasmaranakal (reminiscences), a biography of Mammen Mappilai (founder of Malayala Manorama). He has written a very famous English novel Three bags of gold and other Indian folk tales which is referred by many American universities as children's novel (literature).[1] In 1990, he wrote Kalaripayyat, in Crossovers: Explorations across Disciplines and Martial Arts, which was published in 1995 by Seagull Theatre Quarterly.
