Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (Korean: 한국수력원자력, KHNP) is a subsidiary of the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). It operates large nuclear and hydroelectric plants in South Korea, which are responsible for about 30% of the country's electric power supply.

History

It was formally established in 2001 as part of a general restructuring at KEPCO,[1] although KEPCO had opened its first nuclear plant at Kori in Busan in 1977. The first commercial operation of Kori nuclear #1 was held 1978.

Operations

The company also operates internationally, with offices in New York, Washington, Paris,Tokyo and Praha. The current CEO is CHUNG Jaehoon (Korean: 정재훈).[2] As of 2019, it had about 9,500 employees and sales revenue of 4.8 trillion[3] (approximately US$6 billion). The current international credit ratings are Aa2 stable/AA stable/AA- stable(Moody's/S&P/Fitch),[4] which are one of the top in global utility industry.
