Karan Patel is an Indian television actor known for playing Raman Kumar Bhalla in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Mr. Rishabh Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2.[3] He participated in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6. In 2020, he participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 and emerged as the runner-up.[4]

Early life

Patel is a Gujarati who was born in Calcutta on 23 November 1983.[5][1][2] His father's name is Rashesh Patel.[6] He did his schooling at Utpal Shanghvi School in the Juhu suburb of Mumbai and graduated Mithibai College, Mumbai. He attended the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute and the University of the Arts London. He has also attended Shiamak Davar's dance classes.[7]

Personal life

Patel married Ankita Karan Patel on 3 May 2015 in Mumbai.[8][9] Their first child was born on 14 December 2019.[10][11]

Career

Patel starred in the STAR Plus series Kasturi, where he played Robbie Sabarwal, his first lead role. Previously, he played a number of roles in Balaji Telefilms. His first role was in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii where he played Vigyat. He has also worked in Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kasamh Se.[12]

In 2008 he debuted as host by anchoring a new show Kaho Na Yaar Hai.[13] In 2013, he participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.[14][15] He recently quit the show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.[16] This role earned him numerous awards such as, ZEE Gold Awards for Best Actor (Popular) three years in a row (2014–16),[17][18][19] Indian Television Academy Award for Best Romantic Actor (Male) in 2015,[20] Indian Telly Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role,[21] His role as Raman Kumar Omprakash Bhalla with his co-star Divyanka T Dahiya earned him ZEE Gold Awards for Best Actor (Popular) three years in a row (2014–16), the Indian Television Academy Award 2015 for Best Romantic Actor (Male), and the Indian Telly Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role.
