Jim Delahunt

Jim Delahunt is a Scottish sports presenter.

Career

Delahunt joined Setanta Sports in August 2006 after more than eight years as anchorman of STV's sport programme Scotsport.[1] Setanta Sports ceased broadcasting in June 2009.

Delahunt had presented Scotsport, all of STV's live football, and some rugby coverage since 1998 and had been a presenter on the channel since 1990. On 17 September 2008, Delahunt returned to STV for a short period as a freelance anchor of the station's UEFA Champions League highlights shows. In 2010 he began reporting on Scottish Premier League games for ESPN. In 2010 he was announced as the new 'anchorman' of Radio Clyde's Superscoreboard football phone in programme for season 2010–11.[2]

In 2010, Delahunt appeared on BBC Alba as the lead presenter of the annual World Goat Herding Championship at Lochcarron. Held every July, the 7-hour telethon is often cited as the flagship broadcast in the channel's summer season. However, the 2012 Championship was marred when one of the champion herder's goats tested positive for the banned substance EPO, a performance enhancing drug. Delahunt himself became embroiled in the scandal when his betting patterns were revealed to be consistent with the corresponding results posted by the champion herder, who was subsequently disqualified. While strenuously denying any claims of betting corruption, he was however suspended by the BBC for six months. Delahunt returned to BBC Alba for the 2013 championship, albeit in a reduced capacity as pen-side reporter while Dougie Vipond took over lead presenter duties.

In March 2015, Delahunt resigned from his job at Radio Clyde after being found guilty of drunk driving.[3] He wrote a column for the Scottish Sun, but was axed in 2015.
