Grantray-Lawrence Animation was an animation studio active from 1954 to 1967 and founded by Grant Simmons, Ray Patterson (hence "Grant-Ray"), and Robert Lawrence.
This animation company produced commercials and low-budget animated television shows until it went bankrupt in 1967[1] and its distributor, Krantz Films, took over production.
Productions include:
- Planet Patrol (1958; failed pilot)[2]
- The Marvel Super Heroes (1966-1967) syndication[3] (Co-production with Krantz Films)
- Max, the 2000-Year-Old Mouse (1967) (Co-production with Krantz Films)
- Rocket Robin Hood (uncredited) (Co-production with Krantz Films)
- Spider-Man (Season 1 only) ABC taken over by Ralph Bakshi[1] (Co-production with Krantz Films)
The Spider-Man theme song has been covered and parodied in various commercials, TV shows, video games, and films, including The Simpsons Movie (2007).

In 1966, television production company Grantray-Lawrence produced a series of five half-hour semi-animated shows under the banner title Marvel Superheroes. Captain America (original comics appearance in 1941), The Incredible Hulk (1962), Iron Man (1963), The Mighty Thor, and Sub-Mariner (1939) all made their television debuts.
