Chris Collingwood (born October 3, 1967) is an American singer, songwriter, and artist. He is best known as the former lead vocalist and founding member of the power pop band Fountains of Wayne.

Early life

Collingwood was born in Britain but grew up in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.[1]

Collingwood graduated from The Hill School. He attended Williams College alongside his future Fountains of Wayne bandmate Adam Schlesinger.[2]

Personal life

Collingwood's major influences are The Beatles, The Zombies, The Hollies, Aztec Camera, Squeeze, and Blue Öyster Cult.[3]

Collingwood has admitted to having trouble with alcohol in the past, even stating that his heavy drinking resulted in him having only contributed three songs to the band's fourth studio album, Traffic and Weather. He has been sober since 2006.

He lives with his wife in Northampton, Massachusetts. The couple married in 1996.
