Belinda Ruth Owusu (born 19 April 1989) is an English actress. She is known for her roles as Libby Fox in the BBC soap opera EastEnders and Nicky McKendrick in BBC drama Holby City.[1]

Career

Owusu became a student at the Anna Fiorentini Theatre and Film School, opened in Hackney in 2001. She won sponsorship for a place at the school, which helped her to get a role in the BBC soap opera EastEnders in 2006. She played Libby Fox from 2006 to 2010, and returned as a recurring character from 2014 to 2017.[2] Prior to getting this role, she had also appeared in a pizza advert.[3] In 2008, Owusu was a contestant in an EastEnders special of The Weakest Link. She was the fourth one to be voted off.

In March 2011, she worked at the Nuffield Theatre, and played Desdemona in their version of William Shakespeare's Othello.

In December 2017, Owusu began playing F1 doctor Nicky McKendrick in BBC medical drama Holby City.[4]

Personal life

Owusu is of Ghanaian and English descent. She has an older brother, Jermaine Jake Owusu, born October 1987 and a younger brother Ziggy Owusu, born October 1997, who was murdered in October 2016.[5][6]
