In attendance at the Commissioning Ceremony was the legendary St. Louis Cardinals baseball player Stan "The Man" Musial. The first commanding officer was Lieutenant Commander William Sheehan of Glens Falls New York. He is a 1982 graduate (KILO Company Class 82006) of the United States Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport Rhode Island. |
