Location of Kežmarok District in the Prešov region

Toporec (Hungarian: Toporc, German: Topporz) is a village and municipality in Kežmarok District in the Prešov Region of north Slovakia.

History

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1277. Between 1000 and 1920, it was a part of the Kingdom of Hungary. It is an medieval Hungarian village. In 1945 it's German population was expelled. The population of Toporec mostly attributes to Hungarian people, many high class Hungarian Gypsy's also reside in this village, the village is filled with beautiful green grassland and large properties the owners have earned by hard work and effort. The village also offers a small variety of shops, for your basic needs, closest town is about 10 km away,Kezmarok.

Geography

The municipality lies at an altitude of 572 metres and covers an area of 28.122 km2 . It has a population of about 1690 people.
