The Nature Conservancy was a British government agency established by Royal Charter in 1949. It established a small network of research stations, which became sites for significant basic and applied ecological research.[1] In 1966 it was incorporated in to the newly created Natural Environment Research Council [(NERC) ] [2].
The Nature Conservancy was separated from the NERC in 1973 and became the Nature Conservancy Council.
