Lipnice nad Sázavou (German: Lipnitz an der Sasau) is a town in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 650 inhabitants.

It is where, at the Bohemian Crown Inn, Czech author Jaroslav Hašek wrote a substantial part of The Good Soldier Švejk (books Two, Three, and Four) before he died in 1923, as he lodged there before buying a house across the street. The inn was later purchased by the author's grandson, Richard Hašek, largely for memorial purposes, and Hašek family keeps it in the same state as it was in the times of their famous ancestor (it still operated as a restaurant and boarding house), while the house now hosts an author's memorial museum. Hašek is buried at the Lipnice Old Cemetery.

Gustav Mahler's father, Bernhard Mahler, was born in Lipnice on 2 August 1827.

Lipnice was the location where Václav Havel made his first public appearance in 19 years in 1988, at a folk festival.

The most notable landmark of the town is the 14th-century Lipnice Castle.

In September 2019, the town status was granted back to Lipnice. Previously, Lipnice was a town since 1370 until reforms in the half of 19th century; since then it was a market town for a century.[2]
