Kieran Sporn (born 28 August 1966) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon and Fitzroy in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 1989-94.

Career

Originally from South Australia where he played for South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club West Adelaide, winning the club's Sam Suckling Medal as the best first year player in 1986 and the club Best & Fairest in 1987. Sporn made his league debut for the Bloods on 19 April 1986.

After signing with VFL team Essendon to play under coach Kevin Sheedy and alongside Bombers greats such as Simon Madden, Terry Daniher and Paul Salmon, Sporn moved to Melbourne in 1989 and played 19 consecutive games during his debut season before a knee injury ending the streak. Sporn moved to Fitzroy in 1994 before retiring.

Family

Kieran Sporn's younger sister is Rachael Sporn, a former Australian basketballer who played for the Adelaide Lightning in Australia's WNBL, and the Detroit Shock in the WNBA. Rachael Sporn is also a former captain of Australia's women's national team the Australian Opals, and represented Australia in basketball at the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, winning the Bronze medal in 1996 and the Silver medal in 2000 and 2004.
