Jackson Township is one of nine townships in Hancock County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,786 and it contained 696 housing units.[1]

History

Jackson Township was organized in 1831 during the May term. The board of commissioners of Hancock county was formed to include what is now Jackson and Brown townships.[2][3] It was named for President Andrew Jackson.[4]

Geography

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 35.59 square miles (92.2 km2), of which 35.54 square miles (92.0 km2) (or 99.86%) is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 km2) (or 0.14%) is water.[1] Lakes in this township include Perry Lake. The streams of Anthony Creek, Morris Creek and Willow Branch run through this township.
