The college's main building was located on Thistle Street on the south bank of the River Clyde in central Glasgow in western Scotland.

This college had outreach campuses in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh for its HND program.

It was announced on 26 March 2009, that the college would merge with Glasgow Central and Glasgow Metropolitan colleges. The proposed date of merger was 1 August 2010.

The three colleges were also planning to build a £300,000,000 new campus. They had the support of Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Funding Council.
