Francis Raymond Shea

Francis Raymond Shea served as the third Roman Catholic Bishop of Evansville, Indiana from 1969 to 1989.

Shea was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on December 4, 1913. He was ordained a priest on March 19, 1939 and served in a number of assignments around Tennessee over the next three decades. He was named a Monsignor in 1967. On December 1, 1969, he was appointed to the Diocese of Evansville and consecrated Bishop on February 3, 1970. Bishop Shea retired March 11, 1989 and died August 18, 1994.
