WHRP (93.3 FM) and WXQW (94.1 FM) is an urban contemporary-formatted radio station serving the Huntsville, Alabama, market.

Programming

From its origins as WBGY-FM ("Boogie 93") in Tullahoma, Tennessee, the station has sported various formats over the years, including CHR (as "Power 93" WKQD), rock (as "The Ugly FM" WKQD), country (as "Huntsville Country" WHVK and "The Possum" WPZM), and oldies. It finally settled on its urban format in 2003, originally playing hip hop and R&B music to compete with heritage urban WEUP-FM. When competition got fierce, WHRP redirected to an urban adult contemporary sound.

Ownership

Cumulus acquired the WXQW frequency in 2006 from Clear Channel Communications, which moved its WXQ format to the present WQRV, on 100.3 FM.
